We leave Illinois tomorrow. And while we have had lots of fun and will miss everyone, I'm very excited to get back to my home.
And my kitchen.
And leave this ding dong humidity.
We made a day trip to DeKalb to visit some of our friends and see our old favorite places. For some reason, both girls slept the entire way up. In the morning. We're just exhausting them daily, I guess, if they feel the need to nap in the AM.
We dropped Elisabeth off at her dearest friend Avery's for the day. Avery and Elisabeth met in day care on Elisabeth's first day. They are one day apart in age and love each other endlessly. They picked up right where they left off a year ago. :)Evan, Julia and I wandered around DeKalb. We visited some stores and ate lunch with some of Evan's NIU law school friends. Julia enjoyed the candy store, where we bought her a sucker.

We drove by our old apartment and visited The Ellwood House, a gorgeous house and park that is across the street where we used to have to take Elisabeth to go play since we didn't have a yard. Elisabeth used to pretend that the little house was where her imaginary friend lived.
Julia also found the house just as entertaining as her big sister used to.

A little old man from the visitor center of the Ellwood House came out to see if Julia would like him to open the play house so she could look around. Of course she did!
Then we frolicked in the gardens.

My lovely friend Danielle met us at the park and then went with us to go and pick up Elisabeth from Avery's house. We had dinner plans with some other good friends, but Elisabeth and Avery had other plans. They wanted a sleepover. We said yes, and Danielle was sweet enough to offer to drive Elisabeth back to Pekin and then stay and hang out with us for the day. Elisabeth was the happiest ever!!!
So, leaving Elisabeth behind, we headed over to our friends Kara and Zach's house. This is Mary-Therese. She is three months older than Julia and is the cutest little thing. She and Julia had lots of fun.

We put her in the bird cage because we'd done it on the July 4th when Julia was only 11 days old. She still fits.
Then we put Mary-Therese's little brother, Jack, in it. Julia was concerned for him.

Mary-Therese watching us go. I'm so sad we do not live closer to this family. We always have so much fun when we see them.
Julia was out like a light before we even got back on the interstate!
