I kept trying to blog at night before bed and it was keeping me up too late. I have a hard enough time sleeping, what with insomnia from stress and a three year old that still calls out for me to snuggle him almost nightly, so I decided to switch it up and blog in the morning when I am already awake and trying to get the kids to concentrate on their school work.
Sunday we watched Mass on the computer again. It's still really hard not being able to actually attend church, but it is nice to see our priests in our computer celebrating Mass like normal.
Thomas likes to wave at them.In case you were wondering, our waffles from our new waffle maker were delicious!!
I don't know about you all, but grocery shopping and meal planning have ratcheted up the stress to a real anxiety driven level for me (as I am sure you are aware because I talk about it on pretty much every post). One way to help my stress is that we have decided that Sunday evenings are popcorn and veggie tray dinner nights. David told me it was like a party dinner, and that is what I am calling it from now on--Sunday Party Dinner. This past Sunday we also had some of Evan's cheesy beer bread he made and brownies that were not done cooking when I took this picture. We also have been watching Lego Masters during our party dinner.
Well, I usually read my book while they watch tv.
Yesterday, it was back to the new normal. Not that we were all that normal to begin with...
Here's my menu plan for this week. (Please note that I have put the actual number date on the menu plan so that I can remember what ding dong date it is.)
Yesterday was lovely. My kids played outside almost the whole day. Evan and I went on a walk before dinner and saw quite a few neighbors also getting in a walk before the day ended.
I'll give you one guess as to Thomas's favorite color...
Yesterday, I heard the news that one of my favorite authors and illustrators, Tomie dePaola, died. I have been using his books to teach since before I had kids. In fact, when I reorganized the kids' bookshelves, I gathered all of our Tomie dePaola books to put in their own book box so we could keep them all together. We also have quite a few of his Christmas books (Christmas was his favorite holiday, so he had a lot of Christmas books).
If you haven't ever read one of his books, I highly recommend Strega Nona. We also love Nana Upstairs, Nana Downstairs (it is beautiful, but sad). One I don't have, but that we check out a lot, is his Bill and Pete books a crocodile and bird who are friends.
Another whole month of quarantining has kind of sat heavily on mind. There's a difference between knowing that a longer amount of quarantine time is inevitable and fully understanding and accepting that information. Sigh.
May you all enjoy any and all warm, sunny days coming your way!!! And those sunset skies!!
