Virtual Coffee

join me for coffee!.jpg>

It's Tuesday again! Time for a little virtual coffee. Today, I will be using this mug that Evan bought me while he was in training in Virginia (the state).
I have 3 mugs with my name on them. I'll have to show you the other two another time. :)

If we were really having coffee together...

I'd apologize that you had to park a bit aways from our house. They are working on our street and I didn't even know it until yesterday when I went to leave for the Y and there giant signs saying our road was blocked right in front of our house. Apparently, they are extending the curbs next to the side street near us to help slow traffic down. Elisabeth was all worried that they would block everything and she wouldn't be able to walk home or that we'd get stuck in our house and starve. I'm not kidding, she said starve. I told her that they couldn't lock us in our own home and they gave us room to get in and out to the street. She wasn't totally convinced.

I'd tell you how last night while I was making dinner, Evan and Julia went to pick Elisabeth up from Girl Scouts. In the middle of cooking, I get a phone call from Evan telling me to grab my camera and go look at the sunset. "Let dinner burn, this sunset is worth it."

He was so right. And I liked him a little more for knowing me so well.

I'd tell you how I'm loving this fall like weather and the small signs that the plants and trees are excited about fall too.

I'd tell you how relieved I am that Julia's been doing so well with the potty training. She's been telling us more each day when she actually needs to go. I've been more laid back this time around than I was with Elisabeth. Part of it is because Julia's the second child and I'm more laid back with lots of things concerning her and the other part is that she actually is wanting to use the toilet, something Elisabeth never really cared about.
We went to the park yesterday and I realized we hadn't made a park trip in weeks! That is so unlike us.

I would mention how Elisabeth, of course, knew someone at the park. That she's the most social child who is loved by almost every kid. The boy's name was Jarrel and he was yacking Elisabeth's ear off about football and his uncle and the new kid in class. Elisabeth was happily listening and twirling on the swing. Then the kid said, "Hey, is that your mom?"

"Yeah."

"She keeps taking pictures of you."

"Yeah, she does that a lot. She's always taking pictures."

I'd tell you that tonight is book club night and I am beyond excited. I have been needing book club. It's like my medicine when I am bogged down with being a mommy. Tonight we're discussing "My Lobotomy" by Howard Tully and it was my pick. I'd read it over a year ago and was completely moved by the true story. There was a story about his book on NPR a few years ago that I recommended everyone listening to after they'd read it. I'm very excited to discuss it with everyone.

As you left, I'd apologize again about the mess of my street. I'd show you how something is eating my petunias and I think it's a giant moth that I see every morning hanging out on my house. I'd brag about my mums that are both gorgeous and doing great! (Well, the one's from Rachel's brother's greenhouse, not the ones from Wal-Mart. Those ones are kind of giving up on life.) I'd tell you that the next time I see you my house will be decorated for fall! You'll love it!

  6. I'm jealous of your book club too! I'm really needing a good book to read. My second kiddo potty trained herself before even I was ready, and always had to do everything for herself...she is my 'responsible' one now.

  8. Ooh! I can't wait to see photos of your fall decorations. You inspired me to dig out a couple boxes of fall and Halloween decorations from the basement. Yay! What a great activity for a rainy day.
