Virtual Coffee

Hello, friends!!! It's Virtual Coffee day!

If we were really having coffee today...I'd have to make a new pot since I've already drank through 2 cups and there's not enough for you. Sorry, but I needed it this morning.

I would pour you some coffee and then yap your ear off about yoga today. You see, I've committed to going to yoga for the month of January. It's all apart of my "goals" for 2011. My lovely friend Melissa has a blog that is documenting her 4 workouts in 4 months. She's getting married in September (I'm the matron of honor!) and she's trying to lose weight before the wedding. After reading her original post, I was inspired. I decided that I would try to keep going to some classes as well, but ones that have always intimidated me. Yoga was definitely number one on that list. The first week of January I went to the class all nervous and late (of course) and whatnot. Oh my goodness, I was so sore the next day. I had no idea how many muscles yoga expected you to use. But, I liked it. I hadn't done it all the way those flexible waif girls in the front row had done it, but I was feeling pretty good with my first yoga trip. This week was the third week and...I love it. I really do. I'm excited to go and I like how long and stretchy I feel when I'm done. I can also go almost the whole hour without stopping because my arms are shaking from holding myself up.

I'd probably drag you over to show you my crocheting project I'm working on. One of my other new goals for 2011 is to learn to read a crocheting pattern. Yes, I have been crocheting for 22 years (since the ripe age of 7) and I have no idea how to read a pattern. I took one class at the library in Dekalb, IL about 5 years ago and I made a sweater, but I didn't read the pattern, I just listened to the teacher. So, this year, I'm teaching myself to read patterns. The one I'm working on right now is super simple, but I'm kind of proud of it.

So, what's new with you? Reading anything good lately? Any new projects you're working on?

Oh, I have to tell you about the Slate article I read about double spacing after sentences. It went on and on about how double spacing after sentences is not the correct way to type and that it is so offensive to typographers to look at when they read things. Guys--I totally do that!!!!!! I remember learning to touch type in grade school and the class I took in high school and the program had you double spacing between sentences. My fingers do it automatically and now I'm all sorts of self conscious about it!!! I know that this whole post is double spaced because I accidentally did a single space after a sentence and went to enter space again when I remembered the article. Do you all double space?! Am I offending any of you?!?!

I think it's time to end the coffee date when I start rambling about spaces after sentences when typing. I have laundry to do anyway. Sigh.

I hope you come back next week. I promise not to talk about sentence spacing or anything else that is just as captivating.

  1. We just had this conversation about double space or not. Whoever decided that we shouldn't is dumb. I have always and will always. There is 2 spaces right there. Dumb typographers. Ha! 2 more spaces!!

  4. You make me laugh!!! I love this post. Yoga totally seems scary - I have NEVER tried it. Hmmm, something to consider. And - WOW - the spacing thing. Strange! I never heard that before. Please don't look back at this comment because, ya know... I am a double spacer. Ekk!

  5. I despite double spacing. The AF style guides require it, but I usually openly revolt. When I don't, I have to go back and add them in.
