We found out what's happening next summer...

And it turns out we're moving to Texas. San Antonio to be exact.

Evan called me this morning to tell me. I haven't stopped thinking about it since.

My sister and her husband are stationed in San Antonio. He's also in the Air Force and they've been there almost 2 years. Elisabeth is so excited to be living in the same city as her Aunt Terra. She wants to stay the night and paint nails and watch movies and have "girl days!". It will be nice to be so near my sister. Julia doesn't really know her, so it'll be a chance for them to get to know each other. I haven't lived near my sister in almost 6 years. It'll be so nice to be close to her and boss her around again. But, honestly, I can't even begin to tell you how nice it is to know that we'll know someone. And it's not even that we know her--she's my sister!!!! She'll be able to come over for birthdays and cook outs and just because. It'll be nice to have family so close.

I'm not sure about Texas. Rumor has it it's hot there. I don't really like hot.

Holy cow, is San Antonio a huge city. It has so much to do we'll never see it all in our 2-3 years there. There's a zoo (which you know we'll be visiting immediately), museums, The Alamo, The Riverwalk, historic buildings, fine cuisine, and so much more that my poor little kitchen computer refused to handle any more open sites to explore.

It's a relief to know what's going to happen next summer. I haven't let myself think about leaving Colorado though. It's all too new to really feel anything but shock and excitement. And, while Texas was not on our list of places we'd like to be stationed, I can't help but feel like it's going to be a fantastic place to explore. We may not love it as much as we do Colorado, but we'll sure as heck enjoy ourselves while we're there.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have more things to look up about our soon to be new home.

  1. This will be an exciting new adventure for all of you, and I think you all will adjust just fine. I have been praying that God, in his infinite wisdom, would place you somewhere you will all be happy. I did the same before you learned about Colorado. Funny how God knows so much better than us about where we need to be and what we need to do. You guys hadn't even requested Texas, just as you hadn't requested Colorado. Look how great that has turned out to be! Love to all of you. --Nancy

  3. Woot! That is so exciting. I love being near my sis - well, we are like 45 minutes apart. But, it is so nice to know that if there were an emergency, I could call her and she would be there! (And, uh... BABYSITTER!) So, I have never been but hear that San Antonio is a really cool place. I would love to visit.... I promise, I am not inviting myself.... I just mean in general :D
